The Asia Human Resources Development (HRD) Awards 2018 were held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 11.

It was the first time the awards have been hosted in Vietnam, by Anphabe in cooperation with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The awards are international and held annually, honoring and recognizing individuals and organizations that contribute significantly to the development of people, businesses, communities, and societies.

Initiated in 2003, awards have been presented to some 250 outstanding individuals and organizations from 20 countries around the world, especially in Asia. Recipients are well-respected individuals who have contributed significantly to the development of human resources at both the institutional and broader level, such as Mr. Fidel V. Ramos, General 12th Republic of the Philippines, Mr. Yuri Tan Sri Dr Madinah Binti Mohamad, Secretary General, Ministry of Education of Malaysia, and Mr. Dato’ Sri Tony Fernandes, Director of Article Air Asia, among others.

“With the goal of recognizing the contribution of excellent individuals and collectives that have conducted meaningful activities for business as well as the community, Anphabe associated with the HRD Congress and VCCI to bring the Asia HRD Awards to Vietnam,” said Ms. Thanh Nguyen, CEO and Chief Happiness Officer at Anphabe. “Hopefully this will be an opportunity to honor the contributions of Vietnamese individuals and businesses in the international market.”

“I am also very happy that the HRD Congress has chosen Vietnam to host this year’s awards so that we are able to introduce to our international friends our outstanding individuals and organizations that make significant contribution to the community,” said Ms. Pham Chi Lan, Economist and former Deputy President of VCCI and former Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Research Commission. “Compared with many other countries, Vietnam is not at a disadvantage, as this year we have eleven representatives receiving awards. Hopefully, the awards will return in the near future so that Vietnam will continue to have the opportunity to honor achievements and dedication to the human community, business, and society.”

Based on nominations from many countries, the judging panel held the ceremony under the chairmanship of Mr. Fahmi bin Ali Al Jowder, Chairman of the Evaluation Council of the former Ministry of Labor of the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with highly-qualified international teams, to ensure fairness and integrity.

Organizers chose dedicated representatives that have not only made contributions to society but also to the development of people and the human community, according to Mr. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. R Palan, Founder of The Asia HRD Awards Malaysia. “Each winner has an interesting story about their ongoing dedication to their careers and the journey to create value for the community,” he added. “I believe there will be many outstanding figures in Vietnam soon to be honored internationally, and this will be the first step for Vietnam in integrating into the international human resources market. Each year, the awards will select a host country to recognize and honor the contributions and achievements at the host country.”
