All Nippon Airways offers anniversary promotion

Airline celebrates the first full year of its Hanoi to Haneda route.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is celebrating the one year anniversary of its second route connecting Vietnam and Japan, from Hanoi to Haneda (Tokyo), after the first linking Ho Chi Minh City and Narita (Tokyo) was deployed back in 2001. The additional service extends ANA's flight network between Japan and Vietnam as well as promotes business activities and cooperation between the two countries.

To mark the occasion, from April 19 to May 31, ANA is offering a special promotion. Specifically, a promotional fare for economy class return flights from Hanoi to Tokyo will cost $390 excluding taxes and fees.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, in the first two months of 2015, Vietnam has been a popular destination for Japanese tourists with 116,914 visitors, up by 3.9 per cent compared to the same period last year. Japan has also become the third largest market, accounting for 8.15 per cent of total international tourists in January and February after Korea and China.

"Last year, 124,000 Vietnamese visited Japan, up a staggering 50 per cent against the previous year. Japan looks to lure 200,000 Vietnamese tourists by 2017," senior director of the tourism division of the Bureau of Tokyo Industrial and Labor Affairs Chieko Sugisaki said at a "Tokyo City Promotion 2015" conference in Hanoi in January 2015.

ANA was the 13th largest airline in the world by revenue as of 2013 and the largest airline in Japan by the same measure as well as passenger numbers. Founded in 1952, ANA today flies 72 international routes and 115 domestic routes with a fleet of about 240 aircraft. ANA Group has 33,000 employees. ANA has been a core member of Star Alliance since 1999 and has joint ventures with United Airlines on Trans-Pacific and Asian routes and with Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines and Austrian Airlines on Japan-Europe routes. Its Frequent Flyer Program, ANA Mileage Club, has more than 26 million members. ANA was voted Airline of the Year for 2013 by Air Transport World Magazine, and was awarded five stars in 2013 and 2014 by the world's leading airline and airport review site, SKYTRAX. ANA is a launch customer and biggest operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
