To help customers realize the benefits of the factory of the future, the Swiss-based ABB Vietnam Co. Ltd. recently showcased ABB AbilityTMConnected Services, a sophisticated suite of digital services and the company’s key highlight at ProPak Vietnam 2019, demonstrating its leading industrial robotics technologies.

ProPak is the largest processing and packaging exhibition in the Indochina region and was held last week in Ho Chi Minh City.

Delivered via ABB’s MyRobot, a single, intuitive interface, ABB AbilityTMConnected Services make actionable data available anywhere, anytime to enhance robot uptime and optimize the performance of robotic systems. These are part of an interconnected 24/7 ecosystem called Industrial Internet of Things (IoT).

It reshapes the way the world looks at manufacturing automation, with a number of innovative solutions and services to meet the unique needs of each facility. With this service, customers will experience up to 25 per cent fewer incidents and achieve a 60 per cent faster response time and issue recovery.

ABB AbilityTMConnected Services was connected successfully to ABB robots at Vietnam’s most modern e-scooter manufacturing facility and supports many brick manufacturing plants. Featuring a wide range of Industry 4.0 compatible portfolios such as conditioning monitoring and diagnostics, fleet assessment, asset optimization, and back-up management, the services ensure faster reaction time, higher efficiency, and better service technician preparation for on-site calls and support, ultimately helping ABB customers to keep robot systems running at optimal performance.

ABB’s showcase this year also included ABB IRB1200 and FlexPicker IRB360, a series that help manufacturers pick, pack and palletize with greater agility to meet increasingly diverse consumer needs and shorter product cycles.

In addition, ABB’s YuMi, the world’s first dual arm collaborative robot, which impressed thousands of visitors to ABB’s booth in the same exhibition last year, was also at the show. YuMi is a cutting-edge solution that is suitable for manufacturers in the electronics industry, enabling them to meet flexible and agile production needs. In this year’s exhibition, ABB presented YuMi’s connection with the ABB AbilityTMConnected Services.

ABB started operations in Vietnam in 1993. In the 25 years since, it has grown to be a reliable partner in the field of technology, providing turnkey solutions and services in the market.

Its robotics technologies are already widely used in the country’s industries, including electronics, animal feed, food and beverages, fertilizer, chemicals, automotive, metal fabrication, and brick manufacturing. The company has recently supplied thousands of robots to an electronics manufacturer. ABB employs some 900 employees in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and northern Bac Ninh province.
