The World Luxury Spa & Restaurant Awards have just been held in Hanoi, where the best spas and restaurants from all over the world were announced in the presence of 180 guests from more than 50 countries.

The awards were the result of a vote from April 21 to May 21, with more than 100,000 votes from various channels, showcasing yet again the true value of the service excellence at more than 1,000 luxury spas and restaurants around the world.

Harnn Heritage Spa at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in the central city of Da Nang was selected as the 2017 Global Spa of the Year, the highest award this year. Last year it was honored as “Asia’s Best Resort Spa” in the World Spa Awards 2016.

Set on their own quiet lagoon apart from the main resort facilities, the Harnn Heritage Spa treatment rooms and villas share the same tubular shape as the Quonset huts used by Americans in World War II and the American War in Vietnam and are covered in a greenish tint of rusted copper. While the original huts were anything but luxurious, their reimagined versions are oases of calm, with natural light, soothing music, marble showers, and organic curves. Inspired by the practice of traditional Asian medicine and naturopathy, each Harnn treatment is thoughtfully designed to enhance wellness.

In addition to the world’s best in each category, such as spa of the year, healthcare spa, and eco-spa, the awards also honor the best spa in different categories in the region. Le Spa des Artistes in Ho Chi Minh City was selected as Asia’s most luxurious boutique spa, Spa by JW at the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi was voted Southeast Asia’s best spa, Chanterelle - Spa by JW at the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay was voted Southeast Asia’s most prominent new luxury spa, and The Spa at the Grand Ho Tram Strip Resort, in the southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau, was voted Southeast Asia’s most luxurious fitness spa.

The awards did not honor a restaurant of the year but only the world’s top in each category and by region and country.

The French Grill at JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi was voted Asia’s most luxurious restaurant for French food and BBQ in Vietnam, and its JW Café was selected as the most luxurious hotel restaurant in the country.

Meanwhile, the award for the country’s restaurant with the best scenery went to Don’s Bistro in Hanoi, for its nice view over beautiful West Lake.

Setting the basis for service industry standards around the globe, The World Luxury Spa & Restaurant Awards prides itself on providing true recognition to luxury spas and restaurants in their relevant categories.
