Vietnam Airlines was honored by the World Travel Awards (WTA) for “The World’s Leading Airline - Special Economy Class” and “The World’s Leading Cultural Airline” on December 1.

Organized by the World Tourism Organization, the WTA is considered the “Oscars” of tourism and honor the best travel and airline services around the world.

This is the third consecutive year Vietnam Airlines has received a WTA, as voted on by experts from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and a large number of clients from February 1 to October 24.

Mr. Graham Cooke, Founder and Chairman of the WTA, said that Vietnam Airlines has shown remarkable progress in improving customer services and upgrading its fleet. “I am very happy to see that the company’s efforts have been recognized by the travel industry and customers through two prestigious awards,” he added.

Mr. Le Hong Ha, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said the carrier is proud to receive two important awards from the WTA and to be a winner for the third consecutive year. “This not only confirms Vietnam Airlines’ stable quality but also motivates us to aim for more awards in the future,” he added.

Vietnam Airlines officially opened the Special Economy Class on international flights from January 1 this year, operated on Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350 aircraft, with spacious seating, comfort, and many other facilities.

The national flag carrier has also promoted Vietnam’s ethnic minority culture through its food this year.

In March, it selected Australian Vietnamese chef Luke Nguyen as Global Cuisine Ambassador, who created a menu on north-central-south flights and cooperated with the carrier to participate in cultural and commercial exchanges around the world.

Vietnam Airlines also launched the “Four Seasons of Fruit - Four Seasons of Love” program to present regional specialties as desserts on its flights, thereby introducing Vietnamese fruit to the world.

The WTA 2018 Grand Final Gala was held in Portugal; its 25th holding.
