Vietnam Airlines has announced that in-flight duty-free shopping (Lotushop) will be introduced in October in partnership with King Power Traveler under Hong Kong’s King Power Group.

The cooperation is for five years and will expand and upgrade Lotushop’s services to four-star standard under the Skytrax criteria.

Lotushop will offer a wide range of products such as perfume, cosmetics, watches, suitcases, and bags on 30 international flights to South Korea, Japan, China, the UK, France, Russia, Germany and elsewhere. Passengers will also benefit from prices around 15 per cent lower than in city stores.

Experts at King Power Traveler and banks will train cabin crew in sales skills, product knowledge, and the use of IT equipment for sales and completing customs procedures for passengers.

Mr. Le Hong Ha, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said it will strive to bring an international-standard shopping experience to passengers, meeting four-star quality standards in all regards. “This is also one of the steps in our plan to secure a five-star rating,” he added.

King Power Traveler is a wholly-owned subsidiary of King Power Group and was established in 1979 and is based in Hong Kong, specializing in multidisciplinary business, particularly in duty-free retailing across Asia, the Pacific, and Europe.

It has already been providing duty-free services on aircraft and was named at the World Travel Awards as the best company offering duty-free sales on aircraft in the Asia-Pacific for the third consecutive year.

On July 17 in London, Vietnam Airlines again received four-star international certification from Skytrax.

Positioning itself as a world-class airline, plans to upgrade the quality of its products and services from ground to air were put together in 2014 and 2015.

From the convenience of its website, ticketing services, the friendliness of its staff at check-in counters, and comfort and convenience in its domestic and international lounges, to safety, cleanliness and comfort, business class dinners, seating arrangements, and entertainment programs on long journeys; all have undergone upgrades every year as part of meeting Skytrax’s criteria.
