Vietnam Airlines has official opened new flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Bali in Indonesia.

The first flight took off from Ho Chi Minh City on October 27 at 11.10am and from Bali at 4.50pm (local times), carrying a total of more than 250 passengers. Flights will be conducted on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

This is the second route of Vietnam Airlines connecting its home country and Indonesia, following Ho Chi Minh City - Jakarta flights introduced in December 2012.

Flights will be on A321 aircraft with four-star international service standards. Passengers will be served meals and enjoy a free checked baggage allowance and cabin baggage allowance (except for Super Economy class, when checked baggage is excluded).

H.E. Pham Vinh Quang, Ambassador of Vietnam in Indonesia, said the new route will create favorable conditions for tourists to fly directly from Bali to Ho Chi Minh City to explore famous destinations in southern Vietnam, and then head up to Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue, and Hanoi. “The route also contributes to economic and tourism integration in the region and introduces the image and people of Vietnam to the world,” he added.

Vietnam Airlines is currently offering round-trip tickets on Ho Chi Minh City - Bali flights from just VND1.650 million ($69), applicable to customers buying tickets and departing before November 10. Tickets have conditions attached and do not include taxes and fees.

Vietnam Airlines has been certified as a four-star airline for the fourth consecutive year, having successfully met the rigorous rating criteria of Skytrax. Areas rated 4.5 or 5 stars increased by 16 per cent against 2016, when it first received four-star certification. Meeting 85 per cent of the four- and five-star criteria is a stepping stone for the carrier to become Vietnam’s first five-star airline after 2020.
