Vietjet Air has officially opened a new service linking Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka in Japan, following the launch of the Hanoi - Osaka route in November, further contributing to the promotion of tourism, trade and integration between Vietnam and Japan and across the region.

Passengers on the inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Osaka were treated to cosplay performances showcasing Japanese culture and charming souvenirs.

Mr. Gregory Jamet, Chief Commercial Officer at Kansai Airports, said that Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam’s largest city as well as the most modern and most vibrant financial and tourism hub in the country. “We are honored that Kansai Airport has been chosen as Vietjet’s leading destination in Japan,” he said. “We hope more local people and tourists from Japan and Vietnam will enjoy traveling and trading between these two countries thanks to Vietjet’s fun and affordable flights. We expect that the airline will continue to expand its flight network to Kansai Airport, delivering even more convenience and exciting experiences to their customers.”

The Ho Chi Minh City - Osaka route operates daily from December 14, with a flight time of more than five hours per leg. Flights depart Ho Chi Minh City at 1.40am and arrive in Osaka at 8.30am. The return flight then takes off from Osaka at 9.30am and lands in Ho Chi Minh City at 1.30pm (all local times). Tickets are on sale at www.vietjetair.com.

Vietjet’s Hanoi - Osaka route also operates daily with a flight time of more than four hours per leg. Flights depart Hanoi at 1.40am and arrive in Osaka at 7.50am. The return flight then takes off from Osaka at 9.20am and lands in Hanoi at 1.05pm (all local times).

For the Hanoi - Osaka route, Vietjet and Japan Airlines have cooperated to offer a code-share flight service. The two airlines also offer code-share flights on Vietjet’s domestic routes, including Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi - Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang. Vietjet will launch a new route connecting Hanoi and Tokyo (Narita) on January 11.

Vietjet Air operates 60 A320 and A321 aircraft on more than 385 flights daily, carrying some 65 million passengers to date on 104 routes covering destinations across Vietnam and internationally such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan (China), mainland China, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Cambodia.

The airline has plans to expand its flight network across the Asia-Pacific region and has signed contracts to buy new-generation aircraft.
