A photo contest with the theme “Homeland Sea and Islands” was launched on June 28 by the Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

With the aim of introducing and promoting the role and beauty of the seas and islands of Vietnam to both Vietnamese and foreigners, the competition is open to all Vietnamese and foreigners working and living in Vietnam.

They can submit photos showing the beauty of nature, people in the sea, and the islands of Vietnam, the daily activities, customs, habits and cultures of people in the country’s coastal areas, the experiences of visitors with local people, the Vietnamese army protecting the security and sovereignty of the sea and islands, and cultural works, arts, and festivals in Vietnam’s sea and islands.

The photos can be either color or black & white. Each individual can send ten photos via the website www.anhnghethuatbiendao2018.com. The deadline for submissions is August 31.

First prize is VND15 million ($650), second prize VND10 million ($435), and third prize VND7 million ($300), with ten consolation prizes of VND3 million ($130) each.

The best photos will be exhibited after the contest closes.
