The five-star JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa has picked up the prized title of Asia’s Leading New Resort at the 2017 World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony.

“We’re delighted to be named Asia’s Leading New Resort, and in particular to be recognized in this way by our colleagues in the hospitality industry,” said Mr. Ty Collins, the resort’s General Manager.

The first international luxury hotel brand on Vietnam’s “pearl island”, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay opened its doors to the public in January, with the irreverent style of renowned architect Bill Bensley evident throughout the fantastical resort.

Bensley’s design narrative for the site was a fictional academy of learning, Lamarck University, inspired by French naturalist Jean Baptiste Lamarck.

This vision is carried throughout the resort, giving it a truly harmonious aesthetic.

Featuring 244 beautifully-appointed rooms, suites, and stand-alone villas, JW Marriott Phu Quoc enjoys a spectacular, unrivalled location on Bai Khem Beach.

JW Marriott Phu Quoc, Emerald Bay is the second hotel for the brand in Vietnam and joins a portfolio of more than 80 JW Marriott hotels in 25 countries.

“The opening of JW Marriott Phu Quoc, Emerald Bay celebrates the arrival of the first international luxury hotel to this picturesque island paradise,” said Mitzi Gaskins, Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott & The Luxury Collection. “This stunning destination offers guests a variety of experiences, from white-sandy beaches to dense tropical jungle, and now with the addition of the JW Marriott brand, travelers will really have it all.”

JW Marriott Phu Quoc, Emerald Bay offers five distinct restaurants and bars, ensuring guests have a wealth of world-class dining options. Tempus Fugit (which translates into “time flies”) offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine, contemporary Japanese fare, and classic French delights; French & Co is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth with its signature pastries and desserts; Red Rum features fresh, local seafood dishes served beachside; Pink Pearl is scheduled to open this spring and will serve Cantonese cuisine in a beachfront setting; and Department of Chemistry offers local elixirs with views of beautiful Emerald Bay.
