Event running from April 15 to 30 and includes Australian food, beverages, cuisine, fashion, and design.
“Taste of Australia”, the annual Vietnam-wide celebration of Australian food, beverages, cuisine, fashion, and design, encompassing exciting events, will be organized at the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi from April 15 to 30.
The event kicks off with the Great Ozzie BBQ - a family fun day at the hotel’s lakeside area on April 15. With relaxing Aussie music in the air delivered by popular performers such as Kamikaze and the Cool Cats Jazz Band, visitors can expect to enjoy a weekend of a wide selection of Ozzie food and drinks. Adult favorites include steak sangers, calamari and chips, burgers, and even oysters, while kids will soon fall in love with cotton candy and ice cream.
A flea market with 15 booths selling items such as jewelry and accessories, arts and crafts, and Bohemian-style clothing will also be held, as will outdoor games for both adults and children, including Egg & Spoon races, a bouncy castle, and traditional Vietnamese games. Many attractive prizes are also available at the lucky draws.
From April 21 to 27, visit the JW Café and savor myriad sumptuous Australian dishes by guest Chef Julian Robertshaw, Executive Chef at the Melbourne Racing Club’s Caulfield Racecourse. Chef Julian always wanted to be a chef, watching his “very good cook” of a mum in the kitchen and dreaming of creating beautiful fresh dishes, a dream he has seen to fruition through many years working at worldwide restaurants and hotel chains in different positions.
Film is also a highlight when it comes to Australian culture. This time, the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi brings to you the multi award winning film “The Dressmaker”. After its theatrical release in late 2015, this Australian revenge comedy-drama film starring Kate Winslet has received positive reviews. It opened Number 1 in Australian and New Zealand box offices and became the second highest-grossing Australian film of 2015 and the eleventh highest-grossing film of all time at the Australian box office.
“The Dressmaker” will be screened at 8pm on April 22. Ticket combos (popcorn and coke included) are being sold from April 15 at JW Café, for VND250,000++ ($11) per adult.
A chance to discover Australian gastronomy with guest Chef Bret Cameron is open to everyone on the night of April 29 at the French Grill restaurant. Born and raised in New Zealand, Bret’s love affair with food began at an early age and he has years of experience working in various hatted and starred kitchens, including The Greenhouse (London), The Four in Hand (Sydney), and currently the Harvest (Newrybar).
On April 29, gourmands will have the opportunity to meet Chef Bret and taste his luxurious dishes, with a seven-course set menu and wine pairing at VND3,000,000++ ($130) per adult.
With Australian culture in full swing, gather your friends together and have leisurely nights at the Cool Cats Jazz Club.
