The number of international visitors to Vietnam in July increased yet again compared to the previous month, according to the General Statistics Office, reaching more than 1.3 million.

The number in the first seven months stands at 9.8 million, of which visitors from Asian countries still account for the largest proportion and saw higher growth compared to visitors from elsewhere.

The 1.31 million visitors in July is an 11 per cent increase compared to June and 10.7 per cent higher than in July 2018.

The 9.8 million visitors in the first seven months is an increase of 7.9 per cent year-on-year. Those arriving by air increased 4.7 per cent, by sea fell 11.3 per cent, and by road increased 25.2 per cent compared to the same period of 2018.

Almost all visitor source markets increased year-on-year. The number from Thailand rose 48.2 per cent, Taiwan (China) 27.6 per cent, South Korea 22.1 per cent, Indonesia 21.2 per cent, India 19.9 per cent, the Philippines 19.6 per cent, Malaysia 13.9 per cent, Japan 12.9 per cent, Italy 9.8 per cent, and Denmark 8.7 per cent.

The number of domestic tourists in the first seven months is estimated at 52.4 million, of which 26.9 million stayed at least one night. Total tourism revenue reached VND401 trillion ($17.3 billion), an increase of 8.67 per cent against the same period of 2018.

Based on these statistics, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism forecasts that from now until the end of the year the number of international tourists to Vietnam will continue to increase sharply. They hope that the mission of reaching 17 or 18 million international visitors in 2019 will be reached shortly.
