Hanoi welcomes 270,000 visitors over National Day holiday

Visitors during August 31 - September 2 holiday up 8.6%.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Vietnam’s capital welcomed over 270,000 visitors during the three-day National Day holiday from August 31 to September 2, an increase of nearly 8.6 per cent against last year’s holiday.

International tourists stood at over 37,000, up 3.2 per cent, with 26,000 staying at least one night, an increase of 0.6 per cent. Domestic tourists totaled 233,000, up 9.5 per cent, while total revenue was VND328 billion ($14.1 million), up 22 per cent.

Tourists came from South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan (China), the US, the UK, Spain, Malaysia, Australia, and France.

According to a report on travel business in the capital, revenues over the holiday grew strongly compared to last year.

Tourist attractions reported high tourist numbers on August 31 and September 1. The National Museum of History welcomed 622 visitors, an increase of 113 per cent over last year’s holiday, while the Hong Van ornamental animal tourism spot welcomed 971 visitors, an increase of 132 per cent. The number of visitors to the Temple of Literature (7,000) and Hoa Lo Prison (1,977) were down against last year.

Hotels in Hanoi saw an average occupancy rate of 64 per cent.

Various cultural, arts, tourism, and sports activities took place around the capital, contributing to enriching the spiritual lives and entertainment needs of residents as well as visitors.
