Hoi An resort invites guests on a special culinary journey.

This festive season, Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai in Hoi An ancient town invites guests to “Go Explore” on a proactive culinary journey across East Sea, west towards the Atlantic, south into the Pacific, up to the North Pole, and into the mindful present.

Commenting on this year’s festive theme, Mr. Anthony Gill, General Manager said: “It’s a time of year wrapped in celebration. We wanted to heighten the sense of festivity and add a further layer of intrigue and interest by introducing some of world’s most pioneering explorers. In this way, our festive menus unite dishes and discoveries in the same way that food and travel unite people.”

Holiday Highlights

The festivities kick off with an “Explorer Homecoming” welcome performance. Each day includes little homecoming discoveries too, from unique festive drinks to inspiring story cards and personalized treat-filled stockings. The “Battle of the Festive Breads” is on December 24, as Executive Chef Alex Stapfer’s German stollen and Executive Sous Chef Alessandro Fontanesi’s Italian panettone tempt guests to take a side, while there is also the chance to discover GM Anthony’s favorite festive flavors via his mom’s moreish mince pies.

Festive Dining

Venture deep into the jungle, under the sea, and across the cosmos on The Nam Hai’s eleven-night festive culinary quest. The adventure begins close to home with an ode to the world’s largest cave and Vietnam’s finest jungle-inspired flavors, from “nem lui” (suckling pork on a lemongrass stick) to buffalo, wild boar, and even crocodile. Then it’s time to strap into the saddle and cross borders, starting with Genghis Khan’s Battle of the Hotpots: whose tabletop creation will triumph in the taste wars? Dine aboard the Vietnamese “Polar Express” during the Christmas Eve Festive Polar Exploration, a shimmering smorgasbord of icy delights beneath the glowing Northern (Vietnamese) Lights. Or join Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon and Theodore Roosevelt on a Meaty Brazilian Adventure - including wagyu ribs, smoked brisket, Iberian pork and New Zealand lamb - served traditional rodizio-style. Other unmissable events include the Christmas Breakfast Special and New Year’s interstellar feast, showcasing gastronomic delicacies from all around the galaxy.

Just for Kids

There is plenty to keep little explorers entertained at Chuon Chuon Kids’ Club, with traditional games, creative crafts, Cooking Academy feasts, and more. Christmas Day highlights include making snowmen, decorating gingerbread houses, beach volleyball, The Little Hoi An Party with Christmas Choir, and a visit from the Big Man himself. Rumor has it he’ll be arriving by basket boat, fresh from exploring “the heart of the earth!” And to welcome the New Year, children are invited to a special January 1 party

Cool Stuff

In celebration of each explorer and feat, The Heart of the Earth Spa is offering themed daily treatment specials this festive season to match the daily dining experience. Channel the might of the Mongol Empire with an Energising & Detoxifying Scrub. Warm up the inner polar explorer with a Hot Stone Therapy. Explore the wonders of nature with a Sound & Earth Ritual. Or enjoy an Amethyst Pearl Scrub & Wrap in keeping with Captain Nemo’s underwater discoveries.

Passionate about present moment meditation, The Heart of the Earth Spa has also arranged a very special send-off for 2018 and welcome to 2019. At 5pm on December 31, guests are invited to join a complimentary 30-minute meditation session to honor their presence in 2018 and float a letter on the lagoon - in the style of a traditional Vietnamese wishing candle - to set their hopes for the year ahead. And to celebrate new beginnings, all guests are invited to join a Touching the Earth morning walk the following day (7am on January 1) to step into 2019 with beautiful, mindful intent.
