Crowne Plaza West Hanoi heralds the dawn of the Vietnamese Traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) with a host of unique events and activities, including the launch of three Tet gift box collections (the deluxe box, the luxury box, and the premium box), a delicious Tet-inspired menu, and a traditional Vietnamese market corner at its Lackah restaurant. It will also hold special celebrations to mark Australia Day later in the month.

Tet is the most important festival in the Vietnamese calendar, marking the arrival of spring and new beginnings. Before the celebrations, local people practice the custom of gift giving to relatives, friends and partners. Crowne Plaza West Hanoi’s luxury gift box features a 12-year-old Macallan wine, a special box of Dilmah “T series” tea, Royal brand Duck liver pate from France, and imported dried plums and almonds from US, and is priced at VND3.299 million ($143) per box. The premium gift box includes Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, a special box of Dilmah “T series” tea, Marou Chocolate, and imported dried plums and almonds, and is priced at VND1.299 million ($56) per box. The deluxe gift box, at VND899,000 ($39), features a bottle of Chile Cabernet Sauvignon, regular Dilmah tea, dried plums and almonds, and dried palm fruit from Iran.

Throughout Tet, the hotel lobby will be adorned with pink peach blossoms, red paper lanterns, and potted shrubs of kumquats, which are believed to bring good fortune. Vietnamese handicrafts and art will also be on display throughout the holiday.

A special Tet menu, inspired by authentic Vietnamese family holiday recipes, will be served at Lackah from February 4 to 8. Guests can look forward to savoring such seasonal delicacies as “Banh trung” (square sticky rice cake with green been custard and pork stuffing), soup of dried young bamboo with pork chop, and boiled rolled-pork in banana leaves. The price is VND519,000 per person for the lunch buffet and VND649,000 per person for the dinner buffet.

Later in January, to celebrate Australia Day, Crowne Plaza will offer a rich and scrumptious buffet dinner, starting from 6.30pm on January 25. The buffet features traditional Australian dishes, BBQ dishes and seafood, as well as Australian wine to pair. Prices start from VND799,000 ($35) per adult.
