AirAsia has celebrated its maiden flight to Da Lat, the capital of Lam Dong province in the central highlands.

The inaugural flight, AK571, departed Kuala Lumpur on December 27 at 11am and landed at Da Lat’s Lien Khuong Airport at 12.10pm local time, making history as the first international airline to offer direct services between the two destinations.

“We are excited to add Da Lat as our latest destination and to further expand our footprint in Vietnam,” said Ms. Nattinee Tawanchulee, Regional Commercial Head of AirAsia.

“This new direct service will provide additional air connectivity to people in the central highlands to travel across the region, as well as introduce Da Lat as a holiday destination to the world. Also known as the ‘City of Eternal Spring’ for its pleasant weather, Da Lat welcomes visitors all year round.”

Da Lat is AirAsia’s seventh destination in Vietnam, after Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Can Tho, and Phu Quoc Island.

Its first flight from Kuala Lumpur to Can Tho International Airport in the Mekong Delta landed in April.

AirAsia operates 16 direct routes to Vietnam, connecting Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc Island, and Can Tho with six destinations in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Can Tho is the sixth airport in Vietnam where AirAsia conducts international flights, with this route joining two other international routes to Taiwan (China) and Bangkok.
