All main indexes on Vietnam’s stock market closed higher on February 23, with a solid increase in the VN-Index being largely driven by blue chips.
On HSX, the VN-Index closed at 1,102.85 points, up 26.82 points (2.49 per cent), while the VN30-Index reached 1,089.96 points, up 25.68 points (2.41 per cent).
On HNX, the HNX-Index closed at 126.24 points, up 1.55 points (1.24 per cent), the HNX30-Index 244.60 points, up 4.13 points (1.72 per cent), and the UPCoM-Index 59.56 points, up 0.26 points (0.43 per cent).
Liquidity on HSX was VND6.045 trillion ($265.8 million) and VND824.3 billion ($36.2 million) on HNX.
CTG, STB, and HPG led in liquidity on HSX, with 13.7 million, 13.3 million, and 10.7 million shares, respectively, changing hands.
On HSX, there were 197 shares increasing and 96 declining, while 106 rose and 71 fell on HNX. 
Most banking shares gained ground. VCB hit its ceiling as CTG and MBB rose 6.1 and 4.6 per cent and VPB, STB, and BID 2.5, 2.3, and 0.8 per cent. EIB lost 2.5 per cent. 
Most food and beverages shares also closed higher: MSN, KDC, BHN, SAB, and VNM by 2.0, 1.2, 1.1, 0.9, and 0.5 per cent.
Likewise with energy shares, as PLX and PVD hit their ceiling and GAS, PVS, and NT2 rose 4.7, 3.3, and 2.7 per cent.
In real estate and construction, HDG hit its ceiling, and VRE, KDH, NVL, HBC, VIC, and CTD gained 3.4, 3.1, 1.6, 1.3, 1.2, and 0.6 per cent.
Among other large caps, BVH rose 6.0 per cent, HPG, PNJ, FPT, MWG and DHG 4.6, 4.1, 3.6, 0.7, and 0.5 per cent, while VJC remained unchanged.
The Top 5 rising shares on HSX were PLX, PVD, RIC, PIT, and OPC, while the Top 5 falling shares were GTA, SVT, VTB, DTA, and PDN.
The Top 5 rising shares on HNX were KHP, VC7, PPP, NDF, and PXA, while the Top 5 falling shares were CMI, LTC, ORS, SDD, and BII.
Foreign investors net sold on HSX by VND25.83 billion ($1.14 million) and net bought on HNX by VND50.09 billion ($2.2 million).
