VN-Index tumbles in afternoon trade

All main indexes suffer falls on November 2.

All main indexes on Vietnam’s stock market closed lower on November 2.

On HSX, the VN-Index lost 9.62 points (1.14 per cent) and the VN30-Index 7.72 points (0.92 per cent).

On HNX, the HNX-Index fell 1.56 points (1.48 per cent), the HNX30-Index 2.96 points (1.53 per cent), and the UPCoM-Index 0.10 points (0.18 per cent).

The afternoon session saw many shares plunge, such as HAI, DIG, VHG, HAG, HVG, VNS, LSS, DAG, and PXS.

Liquidity on HSX reached VND3.81 trillion ($167.7 million) and on HNX was VND650.1 billion ($28.6 million).

There were 101 shares increasing and 177 decreasing on HSX and 50 rising and 121 falling on HNX.

The VN-Index opened at 842.71 points and reached its peak of the day of 849.5 points before tumbling in the afternoon and closing at 833.09 points.

Some large food and beverage shares gained ground: SAB, which rose 0.7 per cent, VNM 0.6 per cent, and MSN up 0.2 per cent.

Most banking large caps slipped: VPB by 6.5 per cent, BID 2.2 per cent, CTG 1.6 per cent, VCB 1.2 per cent, and MBB 0.9 per cent.

In energy, PLX fell sharply, by 6.6 per cent, and PVD lost 1.6 per cent and GAS 0.5 per cent while NT2 remained unchanged.

In construction and real estate, VIC rose 2.4 per cent, CTD 1.8 per cent, PC1 1.8 per cent, and NVL 1.6 per cent, as ROS shed 6.4 per cent.

The Top 5 rising shares on HSX were VOS, TIE, THI, HVX, and QCG, and VMS, HJS, PCE, PCG, and MHL on HNX.

The Top 5 falling shares on HSX were HAP, HAR, HBC, EMC, and SC5, and TPH, DPC, PGT, OCH, and KTT on HNX.

Foreign investors net bought on HSX by VND216.48 billion ($9.5 million) and by VND22.01 billion ($968,927) on HNX.
