VN-Index closes week above 725 points

Index finishes solid week of increases on May 12.

The VN30-Index was the only main index to fall on Vietnam’s stock market on May 12, as the VN-Index closed above the 725-point mark.

On HSX, the VN-Index increased 0.38 points (0.05 per cent) while the VN30-Index lost 0.18 points (0.02 per cent).

On HNX, the HNX-Index rose 0.48 points (0.54 per cent) and the HNX30-Index 0.96 points (0.58 per cent), while the UPCoM-Index fell 0.14 points (0.25 per cent).

Liquidity on HSX reached VND4 trillion ($176.3 million), 15 per cent lower than yesterday, and on HNX was VND547 billion ($24.1 million), 14 per cent higher.

The VN-Index opened at 724.99 and fluctuated upwards to hit 726.3 points mid-session before easing to 725.5 points at the close. It increased slightly early on in the afternoon, to 725.8 points, before falling to 724.5 points then recovering to finish the day’s trade at 725.37 points.

In food and beverages, SBT increased 0.8 per cent, SAB 0.3 per cent, and VNM 0.2 per cent. BHN and KDC closed at their opening price while MSN lost 0.2 per cent.

CTG was the only banking share to increase, by 0.3 per cent, as EIB closed at its opening price and STB fell 1.2 per cent, MBB 1.2 per cent, VCB 1 per cent, and BID 0.3 per cent.

In energy, CNG rose 0.6 per cent as PGD lost 1.5 per cent and GAS 1.1 per cent.

In real estate, KBC increased 2.8 per cent, DXG 1.7 per cent, KDH 0.6 per cent, and FLC 0.4 per cent. VIC closed at its opening price and NVL shed 0.1 per cent.

Among other large caps, ROS increased 1 per cent, MWG 0.6 per cent, and BVH 0.5 per cent, as HPG and VJC lost 1.5 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively.

ROS saw the highest liquidity on HSX, with VND962 billion ($42.3 million), followed by SRC with VND161 billion ($7.1 million), DXG with VND132 billion ($5.8 million), and KBC with VND114 billion ($5 billion), VNM saw VND85 billion ($3.7 million) change hands.

On HNX, NTP increased 3.6 per cent, VCG 1.3 per cent, PVS 1.2 per cent, and ACB 0.9 per cent. PHP and VND closed at their opening price while PVI lost 2.4 per cent, SHB 1.5 per cent, and VCS 0.6 per cent.

Foreign investors net sold on HSX by VND11 billion ($484,770) and net sold on HNX by VND5.7 billion ($251,199).
