Mr. Tran Van Dung, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HSX), was appointed Chairman of the State Securities Commission on July 12, replacing the retiring Mr. Vu Bang.

Mr. Dung became HSX Chairman on November 1, 2016, after serving as Deputy Chairman and General Director since March 2016. He was formerly Chairman and General Director of the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) for the 2012-2015 term.

He has also worked for the State Bank of Vietnam and is one of only a few people who has been involved with HNX since its inception.

Earlier, on May 24, the Ministry of Finance and the State Securities Commission held a ceremony announcing Mr. Bang’s retirement.

Mr. Bang was born in 1957 in northern Thai Binh province and holds an economics doctorate. He has been with Vietnam’s stock market since its early days, having been closely associated with preparations for its opening more than 20 years ago.

His efforts in bringing derivatives products to investors are highly appreciated.
