Stocks improved in the afternoon.

The market had a positive session and most capitalized stock gained strongly. The afternoon session had a little shake after the first 30 minutes, but it wasn’t significant. Main stocks have done very well to stabilize the index through the shake and finally rose to the highest level before closing.

The VN-Index closed at 1066.98 points, up 2.12 per cent compared to the reference. The increase exceeded the highest close on May 7. This increase comes from the strongest group this afternoon, VIC, VRE, SAB, GAS.

The VN30-Index was up much higher than the morning. VIC increased by 4.1 per cent to VND5,200 ($0.22) and closed at 6.45 per cent. VRE increased by VND2,400 ($0.1) compared to the morning session, closing at the ceiling price of 6.89 per cent. GAS increased by VND4,800 ($0.21), up 6.21 per cent. SAB added VND10,800 ($0.47), up 4.24 per cent.

VN30-Index was positive this afternoon with 25 gainers and 2 losers. The two losers were HSG down 0.34 per cent and NVL down 2.7 per cent. VNM also increased to VND700 ($0.03).

Banking stocks this afternoon also improved compared to the morning. Most of the codes went up a bit. VCB closed up 0.69 per cent, STB on the reference, MBB up 1.47 per cent, BID up 0.88 per cent, and CTG up 0.34 per cent. The drop was HDB down 2.17 per cent, VPB down 3.48 per cent, and TPB down 1.01 per cent.

The overall width of the HSX was also much better than the morning session, with 175 shares increased and 118 shares decreased, of which about 115 shares increased by 1 per cent.

Although the market was more active in the afternoon, liquidity will not increase. The total matched value reached VND1.841 trillion ($80.8 million) approximately in the afternoon session which was smaller than the morning session. For the whole day, trading value decreased by 3.3 per cent and the total value increased slightly 4 per cent.

Foreigners remained net sellers of VND106 billion ($4.65 million) on both exchanges. Specifically, the HSX was sold at VND718.3 billion ($31.5 million), and bought at VND616.1 billion ($27.05 million). The HNX was bought at VND4.9 billion ($215,202).
