Massive sales pressure appeared right at the opening of Vietnam’s stock market on June 6, dragging down the VN-Index to the threshold of 1,012 points. It quickly recovered, however, when buying replaced selling.

The VN-Index increased 0.76 points (0.07 per cent) to 1,023.5 points at the close of the session, with 122 gainers and 138 losers on HSX. Trading volume was over 94.34 million shares valued at VND2.5 trillion ($109.5 million), down 15 per cent in volume and 21 per cent in value compared to yesterday morning.

A number of bluechips and other stocks have been under profit-taking pressure in recent sessions, such as HSG, MBB, NVL, DXG and AAA, making investors hesitate.

The bright spot in the first half of the morning was MWG, which jumped over 4 per cent. VND lost its purple color but increased 6 per cent, while liquidity was maintained with over 1.6 million units being matched.

There were five losers among the Top 10 largest caps: VIC by 0.9 per cent, VHM 0.5 per cent, VNM 1.2 per cent, SAB 0.8 per cent, and TCB 1.8 per cent.

In the remaining five, GAS increased 2.3 per cent and HPG 1 per cent.

In banking, VCB rose 0.3 per cent on 1.45 million units matched and CTG 1.2 per cent on 3.72 million units. VPB lost 0.2 per cent on 1.27 million units and MBB 0.2 per cent on 3.71 million units.

A number of bluechip VN30 stocks did well, with MWG increasing 4.9 per cent and CTD 4 per cent.

The biggest loser was DHG, by 2.6 per cent, while VGC, NVL, RG, SBT, DPM and HSG all lost around 1 per cent.

The HNX-Index, meanwhile, gained 119.5 points before easing, but still closed in positive territory thanks to ACB, VCS, PVS and CEO.

It had gained 0.76 points (0.64 per cent) by the end of the morning, closing at 118.94 points with 56 shares increasing and 74 shares declining. Total trading volume was 27.23 million units, worth VND403 billion ($17.66 million), down 15.77 per cent in volume and 1.5 per cent in value compared to yesterday morning.

Among the Top 10 largest caps on HNX, VCS rose 7.22 per cent to VND104,000 ($4.55) and ACB recovered to gain 1.44 per cent on 3.27 million shares traded. VCG, PVS and PVI also closed higher at the end of the session.
