June 11: VN-Index up slightly

The VN-Index gained 0.01 points in the first trading session of the week, closing at 1,039.02 points with 129 gainers and 165 losers. The total trading volume was 185.54 million shares worth VND7.5 trillion ($328.4 million), up 25 per cent in volume and 67 per cent in value compared to last Friday. Put-through transactions contributed 51.71 million units.

The HNX-Index, meanwhile, lost 1.4 points (1.17 per cent) to close at 118.45 points with 66 gainers and 90 losers. The total trading volume reached 35.13 million shares, worth VND541.32 billion ($23.7 million), down 20 per cent in volume and 11 per cent in value against last Friday. Put-through transactions contributed 3 million shares valued at VND31.45 billion ($1.3 million).

On HSX, TCB increased in the afternoon session for the third consecutive day, closing at its high of VND109,000 ($4.7), up 3.61 per cent with 1.23 million shares matched.

VIC and VHM were up slightly, by 0.08 per cent each, while VNM lost 1.17 per cent. VCB also fell, by 1.17 per cent, as did GAS, by 0.31 per cent, and SAB 0.82 per cent, BID 1.59 per cent, CTG 1.75 per cent, and HPG 1.14 per cent. HPG was the best performing stock in volume, with 7.22 million shares traded.

On HNX, ACB lost 1.16 per cent and closed at VND42,600 ($1.86), with over 4 million shares traded, second only to SHB.

The Top 10 largest caps on HNX, except VPI and NTP, did well in afternoon trade. Among the biggest losers on the northern bourse were VCG, by 3.76 per cent, PVS 3.89 per cent, SHB 2.11 per cent (with 5 million shares traded), and VCS 2.2 per cent.

CEO continued to be sold off strongly in the afternoon but buyers were few, and it closed at VND15,500 ($0.67) on just 290,000 units.
