All indexes closed higher on Vietnam’s stock market on July 13.

On HSX, the VN-Index increased 4.13 points (0.53 per cent) and the VN30-Index 3.79 points (0.50 per cent).

On HNX, the HNX-Index closed up 0.20 points (0.20 per cent), the HNX30-Index 0.75 points (0.4 per cent), and the UPCoM-Index 0.02 points (0.03 per cent).

The VN-Index opened at 774.17 points and increased to 777.1 points early in the session. It then fell sharply, hitting its bottom of the day of 774 points by mid-session, then recovered and closed at 776.2 points. It then reached 778.3 points by the close of the day’s trade.

Liquidity on HXS reached VND3.13 trillion ($136.68 million) and on HNX was VND613.45 billion ($26.98 million).

On HSX, 142 shares increased and 137 fell, while on HNX, 92 rose and 80 closed down.

Momentum came from blue-chips, such as PLX, VJC, VNM, BHN, REE, BVH, FPT and BID, while VCB pushed up the VN-Index during the morning session.

In banking, most large shares rose: AGR by 2.7 per cent, BID 1.3 per cent, CTG 1 per cent, VCB 0.5 per cent, and MBB 0.2 per cent.

In construction and real estate, FLC increased 1.8 per cent, CTD 0.9 per cent, ROS 0.6 per cent, and NVL 0.1 per cent, VIC closed at its opening price and HBC lost 0.2 per cent.

In energy, PLX increased 2.2 per cent and GAS 1.1 per cent while PVD lost 0.7 per cent.

Among large caps, HPG rose 1.8 per cent, BVH 1.2 per cent, VNM and POM 0.6 per cent, HSG 0.2 per cent, and SAB and MWG 0.1 per cent, while KDC lost 0.1 per cent.

On HNX, notable shares included PVI, which increased 2 per cent, VCS 1.3 per cent, SHB 1.2 per cent, and VCG 0.5 per cent, while ACB closed at its opening price.

Foreign investors net bought on HSX by VND44.97 billion ($1.97 million) and net sold on HNX by VND321.93 million ($14,163).

The market again saw good gains thanks to large caps such as PLX, VNM, and FPT and also banking stocks. Strong buying demand appeared at the end of the session, which indicates that the VN-Index may continue rising tomorrow and retest the resistance level of 780 points. Short-term risk still exists as liquidity is not great. Long-term investors should invest in fundamentally good stocks such as DHG, PNJ, BFC, TCM, and MBB.
