Only UPCoM loses ground

Other main indexes close higher on November 13.

All main indexes closed higher on November 13, with the exception of the UPCoM-Index.

On HSX, the VN-Index increased 11.13 points (1.28 per cent) and the VN30-Index 9.56 points (1.11 per cent).

On HNX, the HNX-Index rose 0.41 points (0.39 per cent) and the HNX30-Index 2.86 points (1.44 per cent), while the UPCoM-Index lost 0.37 points (0.70 per cent).

Liquidity on HSX reached VND4.66 trillion ($205.3 million) and on HNX was VND707 billion ($31.14 million).

Afternoon trade was heavy for bluechips, with VNM rising VND10,700 ($0.47), VRE hitting its ceiling, and VIC, GAS, PVD, BID, and VCB being sought after. Shares likely to be divested in the near future, such as FPT, VCG, NTP, BMP, and DMC also increased strongly, with many reaching their ceiling.

There were 110 shares increasing and 168 falling on HSX while 74 rose and 116 fell on HNX.

The VN-Index opened at 868.21 points and soared to 877.1 points before easing to 873 points at the close of the morning session. It continued upwards in the afternoon and closed at 879.34 points.

In food and beverages, VNM rose 6.2 per cent while SAB and MSN lost 0.1 and 0.8 per cent, respectively.

In banking, BID rose 1.5 per cent and VCB 0.7 per cent, while MBB and VPB lost 2.1 per cent, STB 1.8 per cent, and EIB 1.3 per cent.

In energy, PVD rose 4.1 per cent and GAS 3.5 per cent while PLX shed 4.5 per cent, PPC 1.3 per cent, and NT2 0.8 per cent.

In construction and real estate, VIC increased 3.9 per cent, CTD 1.7 per cent, and ROS 0.9 per cent, as FLC fell 6.02 per cent and DXG 2.4 per cent. NVL closed at its opening price.

Foreign investors net bought on HSX by VND234.76 billion ($10.73 million) and by VND3.75 billion ($165,154) on HNX.

“Risk in the market continue to increase, so it is necessary to limit purchases. The current strong divide, however, creates opportunities even when the market declines. Because the risk in this strategy is high, investors should carefully select stock, prioritizing those with a long cumulative duration and not rising 20 per cent in the last two years.”
