April 10: VN-Index back under 1200

Main indexes on both bourses close down.

All main indexes on Vietnam’s stock market lost ground on April 10.

On HSX, the VN-Index closed at 1,198.12 points, down 6.21 points (0.52 per cent), and the VN30-Index 1,168.06 points, down 9.62 points (0.82 per cent).

On HNX, the HNX-Index finished at 136.68 points, down 1.10 points (0.80 per cent), while the HNX30-Index closed at 256.94 points, down 3.06 points (1.18 per cent). The UPCoM-Index finished the day at 60.42 points, down 0.03 points (0.05 per cent).

Liquidity on HSX was VND7.8 trillion ($342.2 million) and VND1.1 trillion ($48.2 million) on HNX.

Most large food and beverages shares lost ground, with TAC, KDC, DQC, TLG, VNM, and VCF falling 1.8, 1.5, 1.1, 0.5, 0.4 and 0.3 per cent, while BBC closed at its opening price.

Some large banking shares gained: BID, BVH and VCB by 2.5, 2.3 and 0.9 per cent, as MSN lost 1.9 per cent, SSI 1.8 per cent, VPB 1.4 per cent, STB 1.2 per cent, CTG 1.1 per cent, VCI 0.9 per cent, and EIB and MBB 0.7 per cent.

In energy, PVT lost 4.3 per cent, NT2 1.6 per cent, PGD 0.8 per cent, PLX 0.5 per cent, and PPC and GAS 0.2 per cent, while PVD closed at its opening price.

The Top 5 shares bought by foreign investors were VNM (VND59.9 billion ($2.6 million)), SSI (VND55 billion ($2.4 million)), VRE (VND37.2 billion ($1.6 million)), DHG (VND29.1 billion ($1.27 million)), and BID (VND28.9 billion ($1.26 million)).

On HSX, VJC was the largest net sold share, with (VND70.2 billion ($3.07 million)), followed by SBT (VND64.8 billion ($2.87 million)), VCB (VND64.7 billion ($2.83 million)), PAN (VND43.1 billion ($1.89 million)), and DIG (VND22.3 billion ($978,325)).

On HNX, VGC was the largest net sold share, with VND12.8 billion ($561,550), HUT (VND9 billion ($394,840)), NDN (VND8.5 billion ($372,900)), VCG (VND8.4 billion ($368,515)), and MBS (VND4.4 billion ($193,000).

On UPCoM, foreign investors bought 1,848,544 shares worth VND152.50 billion ($6.7 million).

They net bought on HSX by VND56.92 billion ($2.5 million) and on HNX by VND23.88 billion ($1.04 million).
